Q: Does the warranty cover vacant homes?

The warranty does not cover homes that have been vacant for more than 30 days.

Q: Does the warranty cover condominiums and townhouses?

Yes, but it does not cover the "common areas" of a condominium or townhouse.

Q: Are old appliances covered by the warranty?

Yes. There is no age limit on the covered appliances. Appliances that are inspected and reported without defects are covered regardless of their age. See our What’s Covered Chart above.

Q: How long is the warranty's term?

The warranty term is 90 days from the closing date or 120 days from the inspection date, whichever comes first.

Q: Is there anything my builder can do in case the radon- resistant features described above do not work?

Sometimes radon levels in a house are too high to be handled by the type of system described above. If this happens, a fan can be added to the system to increase suction on the pipe. This is called “activating” the system. Installing the fan is easy, because of all the required wiring is already in place. The typical cost of a fan is $200, and installation takes approximately 1 hour.
